In his book, Lake Woebegon, Garrison Keller signs off with, "That's the news from Lake Woebegon, where all the women are strong, the men are good looking, and all the children are above average". I have that same special feeling for the Jacksonport--Jacksonport and West Jacksonport--my home town.
Sandy beaches, rocky shoreline cliffs and the tallest sand dunes in the State of Wisconsin, and two of the most scenic shoreline parks are hallmarks that make Jacksonport a don't-miss on your Door County trip. You can be as secluded as you want in Jacksonport, but if you have an appetite for fun & activity start your year off on January 1st with the Polar Bear swim, where New Year Day swimmers take the icy plunge into Lake Michigan.
South of town, Schauer Park hosts a boat ramp and north of town, Meridian Park lies exactly halfway between the equator and the North Pole.
Maifest kicks off the summer season on Memorial Day weekend with a parade, musick food, horse-pulling, a softball tournament, and lots of family fun.
