Gills Rock--At the Tip of the Door
Loacted at the very top of the Door Peninsula, sometimes known as, "the tip of the Door, is the last village in Door County, Gills Rock.
At this tip of the Door County peninsula the waters of Lake Michigan and Green Bay meet, a place known to sailors as "Deaths Door. It is so named because when the cold waters of Lake Michigan mix with the wamer waters of the Bay very strong currents in the water occur. Throughout history there have been many ship in distress around Death's Door with some sinking because of the convergence of the waters.
The drive to Gills Rock is simply beautiful, tree lined winding roads, views of open meadow and sprawling spaces, fantastic parks, and of course, inspiring views of the water.
